Soundgarden Unplugged - would be good
Hi,
Even though soundgarden is known for its dark heavy guitars, I rekon an unplugged album would have been great to add to the collection!!!

It would have been unbelievable.
There is an acoustic version of like suicide, and I think the whole unplugged would have been as good as that.

How can I begin anything new with all of yesterday in me?

It would be interesting.
I'm trying to think of another soundgarden song that even had an acoustic guitar in it. I know the beginning of Mood for Trouble... and of course Ty Cobb had a banjo. heh

As cool as it would be.
I wouldn't hold our breath for that.
They're known for their dark and heavy guitars, and the eerie feel to their music. That acoustic just won't feel right. It would be interesting to here, maybe they'll include it on the potential release of that box set we hear so much about.

Damn straight, possibly my favourite soundgarden song.
There's a cornell bootleg called unplugged in Sweden, where he does BHS and fell on black days. His voice is perfect for acoustic stuff (seasons anybody?) so I think soundgarden unplugged definitely would have worked.harmony90 wrote:Ive seen black hole sun acoustic! ON youtube.. Its cool... Re: Soundgarden Unplugged - would be good
Thanks for this topic! I see all of you have good points both in the pro's and the con's. Mind you, this was the issue that caused disharmony in the band because Kim wouldn't go further in the acoustic direction. So I have a hard time imagining Kim plaing acoustic guitar!
But agreed, some originally (half-)acoustic SG songs virtually cried for an Unplugged performance. Many tracks from Superunknown and DOTU basically, plus your Mind Riot or Incessant Mace (hehe 8) ). It would have been a challenge, both for the band and the audience. But I'm not really losing any sleep about it not having happened (yet).

Re: Soundgarden Unplugged - would be good
well not every song, most songs you need like 5 guitarists to play and if not you need a crazy pedal to play

Re: Soundgarden Unplugged - would be good
It's like when I heard Silversun Pickups - a pretty decent band play acoustically, it was much better despite them using lots of effects and shit on their guitars.
Soundgarden Unplugged would be a masterpiece of music.

There's no such thing as a sure thing. Of this, I'm sure.

Re: Soundgarden Unplugged - would be good
Sorry Adam, I have to disagree. Many SG songs - especially the early ones - were about speed and volume, or crunching heaviness, and that's very, very hard to translate into acoustic. Think of the songs AiC played at Unplugged and which one they didn't - no Them Bones or Dam That River for example, and it makes sense, doesn't it?
So as sad as I am not having witnessed an SG Unplugged show, it's not as hard to understand as with other bands really.
