Bubblegum Mafia, "Twist Twist"

These are a really obscure glam punk-inspired band. I don't know when this demo was recorded but they sound brilliant, and I've been very taken with them. The makings of a hit that never was here.

Deep Purple, "Girls like That"

I am in awe of this band's ability to keep being interesting year after year.

Willard, "Fifteen", from Steel Mill

That's actually one of the rarest albums I own, one of Seattle's finest acts to never taste success.

"Sarah" by Thin Lizzy

I've said elsewhere that I think this song is the most beautiful ever written. Phil Lynott wrote it about his daughter.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, "Don't come Around Here No More".

This must be the national anthem of this website or something.

Nick Lowe, "So It Goes"

I simply love songs of this general kind of vibe and style - can't think what label to put on it, but stuff like Steely Dan and some Thin Lizzy - this is a really great example of it.

The Stooges, "Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell"

I really expect no different music from a bloke who put his tongue into an electrical socket because the idiot was out of drugs ... never taken them, but it produces interesting music
