aI have loved them for years, though it was only lately that I started listening to them again, what I love is how they play this really sludgy form of punk, yet it hits the ear as melodic and catchy as hell ... for me, they are the band that seized the energy NY punk had in the 70s and brought it into the 1980s :D
Its enough to make me call Glenn Danzig a genius - musically though, not politically, he's a childish Trump supporter without even the pro-life silver lining (damn!), I actually got into the song Last Caress because I thought it might be PL... I'm a fan regardless, and I really would like to see them live.
Among competing hypotheses, the one with the fewest assumptions should be selected.
