 In South Wales, parts of the West Country and in Newcastle, "but" is a bastardization of buddy or bud.

Aye. There's thousands of dialects all over Blighty. I suppose you could say slang is like a regional dialect in a way. In Manchester, calling someone a cock is a term of endearment. Y'alright, cock?

that's actually groovy and cool as fuck.
+10 points for the stage. i've seen soundgarden, black sabbath and motorhead on that stage.

It's not so much a modern equivalent as someone playing rock & roll is it?

Aye, old music has no equal. Perhaps of folk you could say there is Mumford & Sons or the Young Dubliners, but they're shite. For folk, I'd rather have The Young Tradition, the Watersons or the Copper Family.

It's a bit unfair from the start asking people to do things that were both groundbreaking and rooting in centuries of folk tradition like the old bluesmen did. It's getting harder to find uncharted territories in sound because so much has already been done. Be it blues or folk or punk or rock and roll, any kind of simplistic music will always be around and receive updates. None of these will change the original pattern because that's what makes those genres timelessly attractive.

I, however, keep stumbling across artists of today that don't give a damn about what the heroes of the past may already have achieved. Imagine Kurt Cobain never picking up a guitar just because the Sex Pistols, Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon had written songs before him.
