Music to listen to while driving

Talk about non grunge music and music in general in here. Don't be shy, we don't bite.

Music to listen to while driving

Post by incessantmace »

Since I have that hour-long drive to school each day I use the time to listen to news radio on the way to school and music on the trip back home. One thing I've started a few days ago is go through my CD albums each day and pick an album I haven't listened to in a long time. The last albums were the Chili Peppers (Blood Sugar Sex Magic, had almost forgotten how GREAT that record is) and Therapy?'s Troublegum (not as good as people thought of it to be back in 1994 but still some quite good songs on it, especially Nowhere and Isolation). For today's ride home it will be Live Through This (yes Nelli, I was thinking of you when I picked it this morning :P :D ).

What stuff do you listen to when you drive longer distances?

Long drives are when I listen any new albums I've bought recently. I'm actually driving up to see my friend in Bradford this weekend which is about 3-4 hour drive each way so I'm going to get stuck into:

Swervedriver "Raise"
Sebadoh "Bakesale"
Cave-In "Antenna"
Debut album out now, listen to the whole thing on Soundcloud here ...

Kind of depends really what mood I'm in and where I'm going. When I go to and from school I'm usually surrounded by nature along the highway. As of late it has been Arctic Monkeys' AM mostly, with some Beastie Boys' Solid Gold Hits and Soundgarden A-Sides. But now I'm tempted the next time I go home to play Neil Young's Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere. It's the perfect CD to play on the way home

Dylan's later stuff is pretty drive-ish :)

Forgot to mention that Queens of the Stone Age are another band I like to listen to while I'm driving.

Manic Street Preachers, Lifeblood is very complementary to those lonely trips, heading back up north ... not that I’ve been going to the south or anything like that much in recent months.
Doesn’t necessarily have to be while driving.
