Your All Time Favorite Album, Grunge Or Otherwise

Talk about non grunge music and music in general in here. Don't be shy, we don't bite.

Your All Time Favorite Album, Grunge Or Otherwise

Post by Logan Ruckman »

Pretty self explanatory. What is your favorite album of all time? It does not have to be a Grunge album.

My favorite album is In Utero by Nirvana, easily.

Jesus, hard one but I will go with either

A. International Harvester Sov Gott Rose-Marie
because there is something so eerie but calming about it, it's a nostalgia attack from a place and time I have never been to but feel like I belong in.

Here is a song from it:

B. Melvins The Bootlicker
now I like this one not because it is defining, but because I've heard and loved Melvins heavier stuff and the way this is in contrast to it is unbelievable. It is my favorite Melvins album and might be my favorite overall album.

Here is a song from it:

when the whole thing comes crashing down, don't ask me why, don't ask me why

Favorite album of all time? Auuuugh that's too difficult. Welp lesse.

1. Big Lizard in my Backyard- Dead Milkmen
2. Feeling You Up- Truly
3. 2- Mac Demarco
4. Melted- Ty Segall

That's all I got for now. But I guess my number one would be BLIMBY.

Good god, that is a hard one! Mine do change as well, but if I had to really think about it, my favorite album of ALL time would be between Velvet Revolver's Contraband & Red Hot Chili Peppers I'm with You.

Yeah, I like my choices

Mechanical Animals by Marilyn Manson

I don't listen to it everyday like I used to but no other album will probably ever affect me the way this one did. It is the sole reason I wanted to learn how to make music. I love the music and the eerieness and variety in it, the lyrics and the emotions they forward, the album cover, the blue case and the hidden messages throughout the booklet (some of which you cannot read unless you use the CD case as a filter), the music videos they made of songs on this album (The Dope Show, I Don't Like The Drugs (But the Drugs Like Me), Rock Is Dead and Coma White), the fact that there is a hidden song you can only hear if you listen to the CD on your computer... Everything. And I love how everything sounds fucking great without any supernatural performances by any of the band members. Yes, this was when Marilyn Manson was a band. It's not just an album to me, it is an alternate and much more awesome reality.

This isn't a question a true music fan should ask or be asked. It's like asking me which of my children I love most, I just couldn't (and wouldn't) tell you.

There are some albums that had a specific relevance and importance at certain times in my life, but that ranges from Forever Young to Vulgar Display of Power to Mother Tongue to Sky Valley to Orbus Terrarum. I like to think more in favorite bands and styles than in favorite albums.

I think it's safe to say that Down on the Upside has been among my most favorite "grunge" albums for the longest time of all contenders, but I really couldn't say which non-grunge album has held the top spot. Probably something by King's X, Kyuss or Radiohead though.
