Your Own Mixtapes/CDs

Post by incessantmace »

Not sure if there already is a similar thread out there, but anyway. If you still happen to devote your spare time to creating cool mixtapes or CDs, post'em here.

I'll start off with my quarterly mix I always listen to when I'm cooking :)

1. The Who: Won't Get Fooled Again (great band!)
2. Kutiman: The Mother of All Funk Chords (awesome guy, took stuff he found all over YouTube and combined it to one of the funkiest tracks I've ever heard! check it out!)
3. The Police: Does Everyone Stare (from 1979, back when they ruled ;))
4. Rainbirds: Blueprint (German guitar pop from 1989, timeless classic)
5. HundEM: Hardkur (local hardcore band making fun of lame local city)
6. Peter Gabriel: Sky Blue (the only guy who's allowed to make an album every ten years and still rules)
7. Ivan Van Dahl: Movin' On (French House. My son loves it  )
8. Norbert & die Feiglinge: Schnurrbart (making fun of moustaches, always a classic *mrgreen*)
9. Red Hot Chili Peppers: My Friends (such a classic, love, love, love that song!)
10. The Gits: Precious Blood (it took AGES for the "Seafish Louisville" CD to arrive, but this song alone was worth waiting)
11. Mia Boyle: The List (singer songwriter from Seattle; nice Neil Young-ish tune, with Marcus Pina from Love Battery on bass :D)
12. Rage Against the Machine: Fistful of Steel (hadn't listened to their debut in ages, but only now I've noticed what a great song this is. Rage, all the way.)
13. Soundgarden: The Day I Tried to Live ( )
14. Greta Schloch: Vergissmeinnicht (lo-fi-weirdo singer-songwriteresse, near from where I come from :))
15. Opeth: Would? (damn great version! give it a listen!)
16. The Who: Who Are You (did I mention how great they are? got newly interested via CSI, mind you)
17. Chris Cornell: Two Drink Minimum (the hidden track on Scream. great blues, and light years better than all the non-hidden music on that album. he should have made it the other way round.)

Comments, or own creations? Give it away!

I made this mixtape for a friend from school today. He's only recently got into the Smashing Pumpkins, so he asked me for some "harder" stuff to listen to, so I dubbed this cassette for him. Hopefully he's got a cassette player or I'm fucked.

Alright, here's my new one for fall/winter 09:

1. Pearl Jam: The Fixer (still the catchiest thing on the new record)
2. Odds: Heterosexual Man (funny and catchy, hilarious video)
3. The Imperial March (from The Empire Strikes Back) (my little son's favorite tune at the moment ;) )
4. The Who: Baba O'Riley (been watching CSI:NY a lot lately, and this song is just magic)
5. Alice in Chains: Check My Brain (see #1 ;) )
6. The Offspring: Gone Away (I remember how much I liked that song in 97 when it came out, and found out I still do :) )
7. April March: Chick Habit (from the Death Proof OST, thanks to Rachel who put this on her MySpace page where it attracted my attention :) )
8. Chris Cornell and Ann & Nancy Wilson: Wild Horses (Stones cover, live 1991) (somebody posted this here for which I'm really thankful!)
9. DeRus en Vas: Klokkijken (totally nutty Dutch rappers as seen on youtube)
10. Green Day: Longview (see #6 :) Still one of the best punk rock songs ever written, and an anthem for my generation)
11. Simply Red: Stars (Comprende Mix) (hey I really loved that song back in 1992, plus my kids love this hip hop version, so shut up!)
12. Led Zeppelin: Nobody's Fault But Mine (had a really heavy Zep phase recently, and this song is still one of their best)
13. Mia Boyle: Long Live the Days (you should really really check out this woman's music, she gives her album away FOR FREE at miaboyle.com!)
14. The Verve Pipe: The Freshmen (see #6 :) )
15. Tori Amos: Raining Blood (best cover version ever, hands down. Slayer on a piano. Awesome.)
16. Pearl Jam: Immortality (I don't know why but I felt a strong urge to listen to that song and put it on here. It kinda fit my mood and it's brilliant.)
17. Prong: Third From The Sun (live) ("Beg to Differ" was one of my first metal albums, and this Chrome cover still ranks up high in my fav list)

Comments anybody? :)

You're very welcome :)

It's easily one of my favourite little gems from the internet, a beautiful version.
How can I begin anything new with all of yesterday in me?
