I used to love that band! Relistening more recently, Strap it on and Meantime are still awesome!

Heck yeah I like Helmet, when I saw them live back in like 1994 (with Sausage and Rollins Band) they rocked!

It was cool, like the Bass player was drinking an alcoholic beverage on stage!

Sometimes I like to listen to something a little heavy and Helmet fills that roll nicely!

Helmet are fantastic, John Stanier is one of my favorite drummers. He's in Battles these day, they are another great band.
Debut album out now, listen to the whole thing on Soundcloud here ...

wrong forum-part maybe?

Anyway, yeah I love me some Helmet. 'Betty' and the debut kick all kinds of ass. The other stuff is great too.
Sucks that it's a Page Hamilton solo-project now. He also seems to have lost his 90s voice. That's a big downer for me.

Yeah, I like some Helmet. Don't know what they're doing in the "present" part of the forum, though. They've been around for a long time.

Well, this thread was made back in 2005 when they recently had reunited, so I guess present was more relevant than past.
when the whole thing comes crashing down, don't ask me why, don't ask me why

It's amazing Page still keeps going even though each and every new album gets panned right away :?

Betty and Aftertaste are still goddamn fucking amazing albums.

Helmet are awesome! Very heavy, minimalistic, riffs like waves of molten lead... Personally "Betty" is my favourite album. I never thought of Helmet as a 'grunge' band though... More like alternative, or even post-hardcore...

Helmet - seems similar to stuff from Ministry (but not really.) I mainly liked the song "Unsung." its energetic and the vocals are smooth and mellow with an interesting rock/metal fusion of guitar, bass, drumming. (simple, alternative, grungy, kick-ass!)
