Swallow

One of my favorite bands for quite sometime. Swallow to me, never got the respect they deserved. They released singles on Sub Pop early in their business career, sharing show bills with future stars, and they broke up before the Grunge frenzy. To me, if they stuck it out for a little bit longer, the sky would be the limit. Sub Pop released their "Guts/Trapped" 45, put the song "Zoo" on Sub Pop 200, released their second LP "Sourpuss" (which was only released in Europe, I believe). And more recently they put out the long lost 3rd album that Sub Pop never released....That album was called "Teach Your Bird To Sing".

They broke up in 1992, and the members went off to form other great bands such as Creep and Spike. Since then they have done reunion shows with my other favorite band Blood Circus around the Seattle area and they're putting out some old and new material off Flotation Records as we speak.

I have that one too!!!
i also have Sourpuss and the Teach Your Bird To Sing albums. And some random Swallow vinyl I have laying around with the song "Rats" on it....I think it's their whole discography actually, which is cool!
Swallow will always be in the top 5 of my favorite bands.

They don't remind me of Mudhoney, to be honest. I always sort of lump Swallow, Blood Circus and Cat Butt in the same catagory for their spastic vocals and gritty guitars. I can hear the Mudhoney you're referring too, but for whatever reason I always associate those three bands together.

I would love to get their self titled on CD, I have it on vinyl and I know it was released on CD and I want it damnit!!! Anyone help a brother out??

Swallow Sourpuss dilemma/ultimatum HELP

Post by Sorlag » Thu Feb 16, 2012 7:38 am

I just received what should have been a Swallow Sourpuss LP, but instead it was the CD.
Which is great though because it's so much easier to listen to, plus I can rip it for you guys! :)
Buuuut, it is not the rarity the LP is, not the same audio quality, history and so on etc. etc.
And I don't know if it has been used before, if I knew it was I'd rip it and then send it back.
when the whole thing comes crashing down, don't ask me why, don't ask me why
