Favorite Tool record?

This section needs more Tool action, so there. I'll play the trailblazer and say Lateralus. Go sue me if you disagree.

I voted for Aenima. Maybe Lateralus is just a little better as a whole, but... Aenima's got the best songs! Especially the track Ænema itself, it's their very best.

Ænima just about takes the lead. It was just such a massive step forward from Undertow. But they're all beautiful albums (even 10,000 Days).
Debut album out now, listen to the whole thing on Soundcloud here ...

I like 10 000 Days a lot too, great songs like Wings for Marie 1&2 and Rosetta Stoned. Not a big fan of Undertow though

Lateralus. Then, Aenima and 10,000 Days are tied.

Great to see people responding! Who knows, if we get enough Tool action we might get a section for them too

And yes, Aenima is a very, very close second. I probably like Lateralus better because it was the first Tool record that I discovered when it actually came out. Aenima I only learned to love some four years after its release, plus I was in my mid-twenties when Lateralus came out and had the "aggressive Tool phase" somewhat behind me

It's not that Undertow's bad, it's just not that great compared to the awesomeness of their other albums (my opinion) :D Opiate's great, it's tied with NIN's Broken as the best EP ever on my list. Hush was the first song I ever heard from Tool, I LOVE it.

Come on, we got bloody sections for Paw and Tripping Daisy for chrissake, and Tool are one of THE "huge underground bands" of the nineties and beyond, plus they have a considerable following hereabouts. So I say: Never say never. :geek:

Now that I started thinking about it, wasn't it Opiate that featured the bonus track where he sings "I had a friend once, he took some acid, then he tried to marry me and everyone in the room" 8D it's such a fun song, and how he sings "Satan... satan..."

And 'Maynard's Dick' is hilarious yet still a strangely good song as well!
