Tool Ever Going Digital?

Post by Y2K-kyle » Sat Mar 12, 2016 2:15 pm

My apologies in advance for the clickbaitish title but I've been thinking about this for a while now.

For the record, I understand why they don't plan on releasing their albums to the digital media(iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Music, Spotify, and so on) and I do respect their reason behind it. My thought is that does that really benefit them? I would like to think they'll be able to spread their music to those who haven't heard them ever.

Also, I think it would be 100% hilarious if that's how they released their next album: totally digital exclusive for a time and you can get it right then.

Tool probably will eventually just because both puscifer and apc are but maybe not, they've explained their reasoning behind it and all make enough money off of touring and selling merch and music of course, even though Tool fans tend to act like they're so anti mainstream, they're still a hugely successful band

I feel like they were the first underground, because I dare not say "indie" without signing my death warrant, to be so successful.

You know what they should do? They should get into a big fight with ticketmaster. That really works out from a business perspective

They didn't release it exclusively digital though!

But let's be real they made BANK with all of the albums on the top charts on Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify and so on. And that's not even thinking about Fear Inoculum, which they kind of did a digital exclusive on some tracks but they aren't necessary for the whole album so there's that. Still top though.

Absolutely. Also, their mentors King Crimson finally went digital after years of fans clamoring for that, so Tool felt justified in doing that too :P

At any rate, there's no losers, only winners.

It's still one of my favorite releases this year. A good album to listen to through headphones.
