So Maynard was being interviewed and they asked about the progress of the new album. He's response was:

“We’ve found a common ground,” he said. “We just can’t seem to move forward.”

It seems to take them ages to get that thing done and I just don't get it. If you're not capable of making a product of art together and work together in a good way, why bother being in that band? I mean don't get me wrong I love TOOL, but this is becoming a farce. It better be good, that mysterious record of theirs

To think, 5 years on from this post it is actually happening.

Tool is now available on digital services and charting them (as they should)
The new album Fear Inoculum is coming out by the end of the month.
The title track is coming out this week!

FINALLY! I can't believe it's been since 2006 since they've released anything...

After all the time between albums you’d think it’d sound a bit different than the last release. Holding out for the full album. Tool are without a doubt one of my favorite bands ever but so far I’m slightly disappointed. Sounds great musicianship is great as always just seems like everything I’ve heard is reminiscent of a riff they’ve already written or a theme already explored. Crucify me but thats my take. Hope they prove me wrong come release time.
Easy come, easy go

Well, any album that has been ridiculously long in the making (*cough* Chinese Democracy *cough*) is bound to sound dated. (Peter Gabriel's Up may be the lone exception but then again he has always been working on other stuff between his albums.) To be brutally honest I haven't even made it through Fear Inoculum in its entirety yet. I liked what I heard but - much like grunge - the first mind-blowing experience just cannot be replicated.

New album is actually my most listened Tool album. It's a headphone album, I'm not sure if it works other way. All the music I've listened in past few months is Fear Inoculum and Lanas new album (which is good too!) and some Type O.
I come from a country of northern lights, lightless days and nightless nights.
I'm not gonna sit around and waste my precious divine energy trying to explain and be ashamed of things you think are wrong with me.

Hmmm haven't tried it on headphones yet, maybe I should try that. Thanks for the tip!

That's actually a good way to put it. It's a better experience to listen to it with headphones and just relax.
