Super Bowl Performance 2014

Post by Grunge_Chick » Thu Feb 06, 2014 6:12 pm

I will admit I didn't watch the Super Bowl or the RHCP performance but now I'm reading that apparently the music was pre recorded although the lyrics were sung live. Seems super lame to me and not very "rock and roll". Anyone see the performance? Thoughts?

In my mind it would be harder to fake playing something then playing something you already know how to play cus you wrote it. The only benefits I could see with it is having all the extra guitar tracks that you added during the recording of the album/studio version....plus the acoustics would be horrid where they played....although big money can fix a lot of problems...if I would I had to choose what I'd use prerecorded it would be the vocals in case I was sick or something...but knowing me if I were sick I'd just have them turn up the vocals so everyone else would suffer with me!!!!! Sounds like it'd be a pain in the ass to hear recorded drums along with real drums going cus would you want to hear both drums going??? nightmare! Also some shows have a strict "fake it your an airband today" policy. Think about it...what do the superbowl people know about music? they want everything to be their version of perfect and they have the money to buy their version. All that being said I think the chili peppers have sucked for twenty years now...before they were their own version of weird now they just suck. Will Ferril clearly doesn't need the money anymore. I guess he just enjoys it.

I watched it and I actually didn't notice

I read Flea's message and it makes sense I guess. It's stupid, but eh oh well.

The whole thing with rock came from a man's testicles. Bet some folks have been trying to turn the seeds into land, if you know what I mean.

This whole thing just tells me that people are focusing on wrong things, searching for things to get pissed off.

Flea wrote why they did it, and I totally understand.

Common sense. IDK why it's called that cause most people don't seem to have it

He really is! I enjoyed his drumming in the beginning.

I think his fake Police song was really well done and the video was pretty much the way I'd want to do a video...make it look old and shitty in a cool way. I haven't read what flea wrote yet...I guess I will.

Actually even though I understand why the faked the music I still find it lame and I will admit, I lost some respect for them.

I would say that, after reading Flea's post about it that it's likely that all Superbowl half-time shows have been done like this, it's not like the rule was just for RHCP. A lot more performers do this and don't get caught than we know about.

I think it's stupid to talk like they did something wrong. They have a loooooong career, and if one or two lips/whatever syncs takes your respect for them, it wasn't there in the first place. Not to mention, that's how things are done sometimes, either the band wanted it or not.

Big picture.

I understand this is how super bowl performances are done but they don't need the money and I like to think that there must be some bands out there that wouldn't do a performance unless it was legit. It's just fake and a bit of a let down.
