Red Hot Chili Peppers have commissioned street artist Mr. Brainwash to cover Los Angeles in cryptic street art to promote their new album 'I'm With You', according to reports.

According to TMZ, the artist, whose real name is Thierry Guetta, has said that the punk funk band have hired him to promote 'I'm With You' as well as for a host of other projects.

Brainwash is known to associate with British graffiti artist Banksy and even made a small appearance in his Oscar nominated documentary Exit Through The Gift Shop.

Red Hot Chili Peppers have not commented on the street art or confirmed they have commissioned it. 'I'm With You', the band's 10th studio album, is due for release on August 30. The first single from the album, 'The Adventure Of Raindance Maggie', will come out on July 18.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are due to tour Europe in October and December.

I've only heard "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" and I like it. Think I will just buy the cd when it comes out... that way I will listen to it instead of put it on the "to burn" queue.

At least they got Josh Klinghoffer, who had worked both as a sideman for the band on their Stadium Arcadium tour and on most of Frusciante's solo projects. So the guy knows his RHCP!

I've had this album for about 2 weeks now. I'm sorry to say that it isn't very good.
