Original vs. alternate versions of SG songs

Post by incessantmace »

I'm a little bit on a SG rediscovery trip right now (my last heavy SG phase was a year ago when King Animal came out and then it faded down quite a bit) and I noticed there are quite different versions of some Soundgarden songs out there. Which led me to the question: which of these versions do you prefer? Here are but some examples, feel free to add more!

Fell on Black Days (album vs. demo version, the latter shares NOTHING with the first one besides the title!)

Like Suicide (album vs. acoustic demo version)

New Damage (album vs. Brian May version)
"Buy a car, buy estates. Buy a baseball club, or something elite." ("Car Buying Time", Little Bears from Bangkok)

I've always loved the Fell On demo, even more so than the album version

Yes, the demo's amazing, isn't it!? Soooo heavy and great lyrics! "Walking the devil's dog... and carrying his groceries..."
"Buy a car, buy estates. Buy a baseball club, or something elite." ("Car Buying Time", Little Bears from Bangkok)

I've always had a fondness for "Like Suicide" acoustic. I remember when it came out I was really into it and my mom walked into the room and asked me who I was listening to. I facetiously told her it was me to see her reaction. She look me straight in the eye and said "If this were you, you'd be a millionaire. Now who is it really?".

My mom and I might not share the same taste in music but she knows a great voice when she hears it. :)

Oh my gosh that's amazing I love it and need it in my life! Wow how incredibly different. It sounds like heavy psychedelic. I don't know which one I prefer though.
