Cornell's voice has changed due to his quitting smoking?

Post by PP Anguish »

Do you feel Cornell's voice has changed because of he stopped smoking and drinking? I've read critics say his voice is stronger now but I just can't feel it... :?

Cornell hasnt got half of the power in his voice now as he had in the 90's, but put it this way, if he hadnt quit his smoking and drinking, his voice would not have any power at all

Agreed. It might also just be due to the fact that he's older. Voices can change as you age.

I agree with both statements. His voice isn't like it was during the 1990s, but I think he is still the best singer around.

I really don't think that hes the best singer around... As a matter of fact, I get tired of his voice from time to time, I mean, I cant listen to an entire chris cornell/ audioslave album

I must agree. Mark Lanegan is like fine wine, only gets better with age :)

well, it`s not only because of smoking; cornell used to drink a lot of alcohol and do drugs... physical exhaustion, the effect of the alcohol on the voice and all that shit was what fucked up his voice... when he stopped using all that crap and probably started to practice his voice again, his voice indeed recuperated... not that he will ever be as good as he used to be, but he is definitely way better than 10 years ago... you should also take into account that he is a 40+ guy, so his voice aged a lot...

All of this and he can still sing. Not many singers can do what he did and sing well.
