and if we are talking MUSIC. no "statistics" no numbers. Pure comparison. there is none.

the only songs in my opinion that could stand up to BadMotorFinger at all is Territorial Pissings.

I, as a person, have always related better to Nevermind. Why? I am not sure. I think Nevermind is a better record (the songs are stronger. More punk), and will always ring deeper than Badmotorfinger.

maybe superunknown album, but badmotorfinger never... nirvana`s nevermind is one of the greatest rock albums, and it`s deservedly on many lists of the greatest ever... badmotorfinger is a great album, but not as good as nevermind... superunkown, on the other hand, definitely is

and not to mention that all of the songs from nevermind are instantly recognizable and pretty memorable after the first listening, while half of the badmotorfinger doesn`t get even close to that

I just responded to the other thread about this guy not having a sweet tooth for nevermind...I guess I'm not sleepy yet so I'll add my equally unimportant opinion here... I'll say that Badmotorfinger is by far the best soudgarden album I have (I only have the last three)...but after you get to many tracks into it it all starts to sound the same....it wears you out (or me I should say) rather then revs you up....Next up you have SuperUnknown....everyone raved about it cus it was the band showing how much they've evolved, grown and were ready to take risks and go in different directions....to me at the time it sounded like a band trying to make the most of an opportunity to cash in by making some more radio friendly stuff...if that was it or not it worked that way for them....if it was more a case of them wanting to grow...then they already had the chops and ability...would mean they were holding back earlier and that "to much the same sound" on Badmotorfinger meant there was a noticeable amount of filler. So to me it feels like Badmotorfinger and Superunkown hurt each others chance at being an over the top great album. The album that followed superunknown....I got it on tape a couple years ago and haven't even made it through it once....what I did listen to was songs that sounded like they went on for ever.
As for my feelings on Nevermind....I like songs that aren't that long....the longer songs on this don't feel that long cus there are a lot of simple hooks....the whole thing feels like eating a variety of junkfood and I'll leave it at that.

wow! not a big Soundgarden fan huh? that's cool :P

That's how I feel about nirvana, the songs start to sound the same, they all use like the same distortion, same sounds.

Soundgarden on the other hand have created some very unique tunings (E,E,E,E,E,E or F,F,D,D,D,D, etc)

And if they wear you out by the end of the album then they did their JOB! XD if I got to an end of a CD & was worn out, that woulda had to be some heavy shit! Imagine how worn out you'd be at the live show (Medical tent???)

The heaviest song on Nevermind is easily "Endless Nameless"

But I still don't think it could stack up to Slaves And Bulldozers.

so you ARE pretty biased... you`re looking for unique tunings and something heavy :P i think one should be open to all options and not care whether the album is different or similar, heavy or not, but just whether it`s good or not :geek:

Nirvana is awesome but there is no question which album kicks way more ass. The truth just is that by the end of the day, no matter how you look at it, there is nothing better than Soundgarden. I rest my case.

I was playing devils advocate. He said he DIDN'T like Soundgarden because they all sound the same, & I said Nirvana sounds the same & SG didn't sound the same because of the unique tunings. :P I'm not comparing heaviness, there is no comparison. I'm comparing musical components (tunings, layered melodies, etc) with lyrical themes. :P I don't know how else I'm SUPPOSED to compare it, but that's how I do it.
And for your last statement on whether it's good or not. Badmotorfinger; good. Nevermind; not. :P
