Rawness of Hole

Post by PunkRat13 » Sat Feb 04, 2012 10:11 am

is hole the only grunge band that is so fucking raw and aggressive?

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.

Babes in Toyland are too, actually one of the big things with grunge is the rawness, you could say Blood Circus, The Thrown Ups etc. are raw.

I always loved them. They were on the Sub Pop 200 compilation

Really though... Pretty On The Inside is a raw album for sure but everything after was way produced. I love "Live Through This" but it's far from raw. After that, songs like Malibu are as close to radio friendly as Courtney Love can get.

There are a lot more "raw" bands out there. Grunge is a treasure trove of raw and aggressive bands.....If you're talking about gurrl bands...Frumpies, Babes in Toyland, L7 and 7 Year Bitch are pretty good.

I once suffered from rawness of hole but I don't like to talk about it.

Babes in Toyland. I have to agree only Hole's early stuff pre-LTT is raw.

What about Black Hole Sun????

Really though, if you want some raw stuff then listen to Soundgarden's first few albums.

Celebrity Skin was trash. Live Through This at least has a raw attitude. Production can be good and still have that vibe. The radio friendly stuff is devoid of life.
