Well it seems like lately I've come across a lot of fan drawings and whatnot, though I don't know who does them, but they show up on facebook a lot.

I thought this one was cute

In those first two, isn't Layne a bit fat in the face?

Those are all great....but for the family tree one...wasn't Pat also in Nirvana?...they could have added more people of course (Jason was in Nirvana and Sound Garden, Chad in Nirvana)...still they did a hell of a lot of work on it and it looks great!

NO, he was just a touring guitarist

YES. Because he's Pat mofuckin Smear and he can be whatever he wants to be.

He actually joined the band towards the very end, because apparently Nirvana was "supposed to be a four piece band."

The cello player? Umm.. I dunno 'bout that one. She did play on All Apologies, but I wouldn't say she was a member.

Wasn't sure what your criteria was to be considered a member...touring or recording. In a rollingstone interview Kurt said that Lori Goldstein was the fifth member of Nirvana...which would mean at the time Pat was the fourth.

Hmmm... Well If Kurt said so, I guess they were.

I've always thought of Nirvana as just Kurt, Krist, and Dave.

I had always heard that Kurt wanted Pat to be in the band and kept asking him, but Pat didn't really want to at the time and wasn't, but had Kurt not died, I'm sure he would have eventually.

Well, Nirvana was originally meant to be 4 piece, but when they couldn't find anyone who fit, they stayed as 3 piece. And then they found Pat and he became the 4th.

/edit. I think it was that Pat heard that Nirvana was meant to be a 4 piece and he really liked Nirvana so he tried for it?

Tunes on In Utero are harder to sing and play at the same time then stuff on Nevermind...that is if you want to play them the way they were recorded and not just do a stripped down version. They had the guitar Tech Big John formerly of the Exploited do a few tunes at a show just to try out how things would go with a second guitar player and then they decided a second guitar player would be a good idea to help doing those tunes. Thats what I've read anyways...I always feel dorky reciting Nirvana stuff cus there has been so much written about them I'm certain some of its not quite right....If someone says they know something then its most certain that there will be someone willing tp publish it.

They always included Pat for the In Utero photo shoots too. I'm not sure why he didn't end up playing on YKYR but legend has it he did play guitar on Kurts final recordings including a version of Do Ray Mi.
