Malfunkshun - My Only Fan

Gruntruck - mostly anything by them

Soundgarden - mostly anything, notably Birth Ritual or Outshined

The U-Men - They

Nirvana - In Bloom (the only song I can really classify as "heavy" by them)

Alice in Chains - Them Bones, or Angry Chair, or Grind

Melvins - anything by them

...what? In Bloom is one of their poppiest, lightest songs!

Negative Creep, School, Blandest, Stay Away, Radio Friendly Unit Shifter, Scentless Apprentice...they're all much heavier than In Bloom.

I guess it's the main opening riff and the solo that makes me think of it as heavy.

Don't worry, I also think In Bloom is kinda heavy, even the chorus.
A heavy song doesn't have to be all downy and angry!

Sweet 69 by Babes In Toyland is a good choice.

I know this thread and post is old, but come on, that's not even the heaviest Soundgarden song. That glory goes to the bands most overrated album, which included this gem:

Also, I keep seeing "We Die Young" appear as 'the heaviest AIC song', which I consider complete bull.
