This record/compilation/whatever has been haunting me for ages and I could never find out when it came out, who exactly was on it nor where one could get it. Now I still don't know if there are copies of it circulating online but after long research I finally got the ingenious idea of contacting Mr Jack Endino (who edited the comp) and asked him directly. He, as being the kindest and coolest person ever to have lived in general, could finally help me out, and since this forum is ablso about gathering grunge related info and trivia, here goes:

Bands That Will Make Money

- came out in 1986
- was conceived by KCMU DJane Faith Henschel with the goal of gathering some twenty Seattle-based bands and artists (save Napalm Beach who hail from Portland) who didn't have a record deal at the time
- was edited by Jack Endino
- came out as a double music cassette featuring nineteen bands with one song each (save Skin Yard who contributed two songs)

The track listing goes as follows:

Tape 1
Side A:
1. Chemistry Set – Fields
2. Room Nine – Circus Floor
3. Bundle of Hiss – Push
4. Violet Caste – Divided

Side B:
1. Pure Joy – Words Conceal
2. Skin Yard – The Blind Leading the Blind
3. Soundgarden – Nothing to Say
4. MC LeRap – Pay Back Time

Tape 2
Side A:
1. Atom Age Vampire – Falling Star
2. Crypt Kicker 5 – Mecca
3. Vexed – Examegastential Groove Beat
4. Color Anxiety – Body Parts
5. Treeclimbers – Fairfield
6. Weather Theatre – Bridge to Heaven

Side B:
1. Napalm Beach – Monster
2. Green River – One More Stitch
3. H-Hour – Into the Dark
4. Feast – Immigrant Song
5. Skin Yard – This Lonely Place
6. Jeff Greinke – Billowing Smoke

Oh yeah, if anybody should happen to know anything about ominous acts like Violet Caste and Atom Age Vampire I'd be delighted to know!

Thanks for this Jan. I've been on Endino's website a few times and he seems like a really cool, normal guy who just so happens to have an encyclopaedic knowledge of all things grunge.

You're welcome, Michael. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the nerdiest grunge fan on the planet for racking my brains over stuff like this, but even if I am it's still fun 8|

Sorry, that's where my magic powers have failed so far. I'll keep my eyes open for it though.

You know, I actually contacted Faith Henschel-Ventrello, in August last year, regarding the "Bands That Will..." comp. She said, she doesn't have a copy any longer and she also suggested Jack Endino.
