Movies you love, that everyone else hates

Post by Narzia »

This was inspired by the "worst movies" thread.

Matrix reloaded and revolutions. I LOVE the WHOLE trilogy, to the point where I don't really think of them as separate films.. if I watch the first one, then over the next few days I am going to watch the second two. Sure, I can see that there is a bit more hollywood cheese.. but it's a brilliant, and complete story, and I don't think there is any kind of quality decline that's big enough to matter, over the awesome story and image. Most people seem to disagree with me on this.

Dude I love that shit! John "Leg Queasy Amo" is on it! XD

For me it's easy:
EraserHead

No one I have shown that movie to has liked it, not that it's extremely graphic/disturbing or anything like that, they just think it's too slow & that it doesn't make sense :P

To go ahead & flip this around, there's a movie I HATE that like every little underground kid LOVES! And that movie is GUMMO

The movie is HORRIBLE, it is like the worst movie on the planet! 2 hours of random scene skips that have NOTHING to do with each other!!!!!!!!! Here's 2 guys fighting, here's a kid playing as a cowboy in a junkyard, here's a kid with a bunny hat & rollerblades smoking a cigarette. FUCKING STUPID.

I think the ONLY reason anyone likes this movie is because of the soundtrack, it is BEASTLY:
Absu
EYEHATEGOD
Electric Hellfire Club
Spazz
Bethlehem
Burzum
Bathory
Dark Noerd
Sleep
Brujeria
Namanax
Nifelheim
Mortician
Mystifier
Destroy All Monsters
Mischa Maisky

But having a good soundtrack does NOT make a movie good, if anything it gives the artists credit!!!!!!!! :P
They are so talented that they can make a shit movie a cult classic just because dumb crust kids can't separate the music from the movie, they hear the music on the movie & go "this is a good movie, it's got spazz in it!" no. Spazz is good. The movie is not. :P

I like those. They're classics.

As for me, being a history buff, I love silent movies, most people think they're boring. But if you find one that's been well preserved or restored properly and played at the correct frame rate, they can be quite enjoyable. Another thing, if you find the soundtrack to be somewhat less than exciting, try putting on a favorite album. I just used Mellon Collie from the Smashing Pumpkins for one...

I designed a sweatshirt for our eighth grade based on her cutie mark! Only my art teacher and I know! HA! We're gonna vote soon to decide the best design.

Since I haven't been able to avoid mention of this, all over the internet, the other day I decided to see what all the excitement was over. NO. It's just like any other kids cartoon. I honestly can't believe that SO many people would like it, if it didn't have this whole.. "cult following", i'll call it. People just WANT to like it, because they feel part of a club. If i'm wrong, explain to me why it's so good.. and that explanation obviously can't apply to girly kiddie cartoons in general.

That's gus van sant, isn't it? I haven't seen it, but I did really like Last Days and Elephant, which are other movies that plenty of people hate.

no, gummo was directed by harmony korine... guys` movies are mostly quirky, but yet somewhat idiotic... gus van sant is a good director, but I can`t stand some of his hipster-emo-oriented movies, it`s just fucking disgusting

yeah Harmony Korine, I don't have anything against the director. I like Kids :) But this movie is the worst thing I've ever seen. I literally said "I feel like I lost 2 hours of my life that I will never get back" OUT LOUD! XD

It's extremely random :P and anytime I ask people why it's so good they just say "It could HAPPEN" :P Like yeah, I know, a tornado could hit a town & then no one would bother to rebuild, that could happen. but it doesn't make it a movie XD watching people walk around junk for 2 hours :P

granted, there were like 3 or 4 parts I liked (like 2 minute parts though!)
