Sound Tracks

Post by Canucker »

So I was watching a movie today and totally wasn't expecting an old Soundgarden tune but got one anyways. Then I looked up the movie sound track and it wasn't a part of the sound track. Regardless I figured it was time to make a list of Grungy Soundtracks or ones that included a song or two....and Movies that had a grungy tune but didn't even bother putting it on the soundtrack.....

So Obviously.... Singles and Hype

The Crow- STP
Crow 2- Hole
SFW- Sound Garden, Hole, Chris Cornell, Babes in Toyland
Judgement Night- Pearl Jam, Mudhoney
With Honors- Mudhoney

I know there is a bunch more but its time to snooze so if you have the energy add to the list....or yell at me for not doing a search and finding that this has already been done ten times before on here.

The Brady Bunch Movie, and I think Big Fish had a Pearl Jam song, possibly another movie as well, and then Eddie Vedder did the soundtrack to Into the Wild.

Almost related, in some movie with Mickey Rourke in it, during some scene there was an acoustic cover of Number of the Beast sung by Billy Corgan playing in the background. Strange shit.

I forgot to mention the name of the movie I was watching was "Blast From The Past" that had the Soundgarden track in the movie but not on the actual Soundtrack.

I actually have all the grungy songs on there up on youtube. I think the only legit band is Dada, and that song is really awesome in my opinion and everyone seems to love it, and I always loooved Mudd Pagoda and the other songs as well. Since it was set in 1995 and a family from the 70s, they really wanted to push both cultures. There is flannel everywhere, and a reference to Pearl Jam, and oh yeah actually they didn't have this song on the soundtrack, but one of the cool songs they created for the movie was Eric Dittmeyer's band Phlegm with their song We Are Phlegm which is played at the Search for the Stars contest and other scenes in the movie.

I just remembered the name of that movie, it's "Spun". Watch it if you want to become somewhat confused.

at first I thought the same...
but it has grown in me;) (same as King Animal)

Apparently 'new' Soundgarden's stuff is not as obviously awesome as their previous work...
like we use to say in Poland: "you have to take a sleep with it" before you love it;)

I'll be honest I'm yet to get on board with King Animal but who knows how I'll feel in the future. I dust it off every now and again for a spin in the stereo, but haven't succumbed to its charms as yet. Time will tell.

If u listen to it from time to time you will never get into...
You have to force yourself to listen to it for at least 2-3 times in a row... I suggest minding your everyday business
with King Animal in the background. You will definitely catch yourself on humming sooner or later like I did;)

I'll bear that in mind however life is short and there are more amazing albums out there than time in my life to listen to them so I sort of have to pick my battles. Soundgarden won't mind if I'm not on board with their album, the album was considered a triumphant comeback by most so job done.
