Nirvana - In Utero

Post by boxcar » Sat Dec 08, 2012 7:40 am

In September 2013 it will be the 20th anniversary of In Utero by Nirvana. I'd like to put together an album of covers in tribute to this wonderful piece of art and I am asking you if you would like to contribute a song from the album? The plan is to ask around everywhere and hopefully get enough of each song to put together a nice tribute by September. Any ideas, feedback, or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would love to sing Radio Friendly Unit Shifter if someone did the instrumental part for me.

Or I could learn All Apologies. Whichever comes first.

Like I said previously:

Dibs on either Radio Friendly Unit Shifter, with help/collaboration of course.

OR

Dibs on All Apologies.

American slang for claiming/wanting something. When they dibs, they are claiming what song they want to do in this case.

So, if you wanted to do, let's say Very Ape, you couldn't cause David called it, or dibs, so he can do it.

Is that clear?

Glad to see people getting in on this. As far as dibs go, call it if you want but I am hopeful and expect to get a lot of submissions for this so turn in your best work and yours should make the cut. As much as I love the GF I plan on expanding the search for musicians beyond it for this compilation. I will probably get a few other forums and Facebook bands involved as well. This way we hopefully reach out further than if it were just us and the project has a better chance for completion.

Oh jesus I would love to do this, though I actually don't play covers all that often, and I still don't know how good I am, so I guess it would depend on if I could do it or not. Though people already dibbed some of the good songs :sad2: though I actually always picture myself playing Tourette's, since I might actually have that ailment, and that would be a fun one to do, but then I know the main riffs to Rape Me and All Apologies, though I also always wanted to play Frances Farmer.
