I've been wanting to go to a concert for awhile now. I haven't been to one since this past summer and then I saw that Rammstein was gonna be somewhat close to me. I was all excited and figured that I would finally have a decent concert to see, however, the tickets turned out to be $100 each and that was for really crappy seats. I didn't realize that Rammstein was the popular around here. Needless to say, I won't be going to see them anytime soon.

My question is, how much is too much to pay for a certain concert? I honestly would pay $100 to see certain bands live (If I had good seats) and there are some that I would only go to if they were super cheap. Are there any bands (still around today) that you would pay good money to see or do you guys decide not to spend money on concerts?

I think you answered your own question, it all depends on your personal preferences and what your can afford/are willing to pay.

I'd like to see Alice again myself. I was lucky enough to see both AIC and Pearl Jam at a festival I was attending two years ago, for only 80 euros. Which is about a 100 bucks.

I payed $150 for Metallica, that's about as much as I'd pay for a concert (unless certain deceased musicians were touring). I prefer small gigs though, I saw Mudhoney for $40 at a small bar and Agent Orange for 30

Yeah, I figured I did answer my own question. I've been trying to think who I would pay that kind of money for and honestly, there aren't that many bands that I would. I do want to see The Smashing Pumpkins if they tour again, which I hear they plan to, and I would pay a good amount of money for that. I would also pay to see Foo Fighters (again), Soundgarden, Mudhoney, and AC/DC. Those are some of the few that are on my must list to see. It just depends if they tour and if they tour around me.

Just ordered a ticket for Soundgarden in Berlin (YAY!!!!! 8D 8D 8D ) and paid 60 Euros (about 80 Dollars) for it. Almost double the price of what I paid for Cornell solo two years ago but hell, it's friggin' SOUNDGARDEN! 8D

But you're a fan of obscene loyalty. I would never pay that much for a band, not even my favorite one. But I'm square after all :wink2:

If it's a band I want to see, I'll do anything. Much depends on Matti too of course, but mostly I get what I want. I don't care about money that much, feelings are much more important.

Thank god we're both on the same page with this, or we'd be in trouble

That's why it's better to earn your own money :P

I used to make a lot less money than my wife because I was still studying at the uni when she had already started working. I still make less money than her now as a teacher in training but salary will rise next year when I hopefully get a job

But even when I had little (own) money I somehow always got along and could afford those little sweet nothings. About ten years ago I didn't spend much money on anything besides my Soundgarden collection

When I was working, the money I earned was "my money" and I spent it all on books and music and writing stuff.. I've said he spoils me

But some women (like my sister) buys shoes, and those are so much more expensive and useless...

In Germany prices for concert tickets really vary a lot. E.g., I will go and see Black Label Society (http://www.eintrittskarten-tickets.de/black-label-society-tour-2012/) in a few days which costs me around 33 Euros. Then again, the last time I saw AC/DC live I paid more than 120 Euros for a standard ticket. Prices go crazy the more popular a band is, and I miss the times when I paid 100 Marks ('round 50 Euro) for a Rolling Stones concert (I know, it's ages ago...).

How much is too much? If it's over 15 dollars it is too much.

The ONLY acception to that rule in my book is Soundgarden (I paid 65 bucks) & Alice In Chains (I paid 35).

I did pay like 80 or 100 bucks on Sub Pop 20 tickets, but that was a festival. We are talking concert prices, not festival prices :P

I'm gonna get to see Pierced Arrows & Don't (Dead Moon & The Wipers) on the 6th for like 8 dollars :)

I paid about 90 euros for the two day festival with Soundgarden, Metallica etc. festival which I think is okay. Beer was like 8 euros (fucking expensive) for a litre inside, but there were people selling tins for a 1/1.50 outside so it wasn't too bad.

I paid about 150 when I went to Wacken, probably the most i've spent on just a festival/concert ticket.

I'd still say Pearl Jam was the best value for money when I saw them in Manchester... well after seeing Motorhead for 18 quid :)

I even got into a festival in Italy for free once where Metallica played :P
