Those aren't the new mixes on those links, right?

Anyway.

I'm not gonna sit around and waste my precious divine energy trying to explain and be ashamed of things you think are wrong with me.

What? They actually went a remixed the album in 2013 not just the remaster. There are different solos, vocals, lack of cello in "Dumb" another weird guitar in "All Apologies" and a slew of other small differences. Plus, the album kind of breathes more. You can hear the air.

Not sure how I feel about this. Remastered is one thing, but remixing it? I remember reading Steve Albini's letter to Nirvana about making the album, and now I feel like remixing it is the opposite of what Albini wanted for the album. That's just me though.

A lot has changed in the 20 years since it was recorded. Like Krist was saying, we still have the original mix if we prefer them which is what disc 1 is all about. But also he said if they didn't remix them then someone else will someday and it can still happen, at least this way they have control over the new mixes. Albini has improved over time and wanted to apply his knowledge to the new mixes while making it fun and fresh to hear for people who are looking for that. I personally love some of the new mixes and the ones I don't like I replace with the old ones.

This all sounds like George Lucas was in charge of this....That might explain why I like the foo fighters about as much as I like Phantom Menace.

Well, you can always buy the DVD (or get it "by other means"), rip the audio and make a CD out of it :)
