Bleach and In Utero are almost by two different bands. (And 33% of the band was literally different.) Bleach was much more Melvins-influenced (and in that same sense much more artistically pure), while In Utero was much more, uh, Courtney Love influenced.

In Utero also had a lot more pretense--a strong sense of "we've gotta make sure this is a noisier, frizzier, rougher-around-the-edges album than the polished, pristine record that Butch Vig produced with us last time, that we don't like because it made us into international sensations."

The Butch Vig album, by the way, I think is the real masterpiece, and I think Butch Vig is probably the main reason. You ever hear the story about how Kurt Cobain refused to double-track his vocals so Butch Vig told him "John Lennon double-tracked all his vocals" so then Cobain agreed? Hilarious.

Anyway, I enjoy Bleach the most these days, but once I got my "producers ears" I decided that Nevermind is Nirvana's best album, hands down. It just hits all those sweet spots, on every single song.

What does Courtney Love have to do with Music?

Aren't you an angel? :D

It's sad Mega has become one of those "use our software to download better"-companies. For anyone who's confused and don't want a mess in your computer: press "Download through your browser"

The last few days have been some of the happiest I've had in a long, long time. Been waiting over 20 years to hear the Fecal Matter demo in it's entirety.

Now...if only someone would leak or release Soundgarden's pre-Deep Six demos, that'd be awesome.

Brett from MoH released this clip today. An outtake from the MoH movie.
