I cannot decide because Mad season only made one album.... I didn't really get a full feel of the band from just one album

I refer more to the music of the bands, the guitars. It may have something to do with McCready being a big hero and influence on me and the songs being somewhat more "blusey" in places but I really dig MS slightly more than AiC (apart from Dirt which was jsut wicked epic)
Having just read a new interview with Mike I think Layne may have brought his A-Game to the project because they gave him complete lyrical freedom on the album. If you think about it, he didn't have that in AIC.

Layne didn't have lyrical freedom on Alice? Why? Oh, I guess Cantrell.

Not that Cantrell doesn't write great stuff. We wouldn't have Rooster without him.

Oh, I love Jerry, wasn't trying to be derogatory towards him there (Although now that I read what I wrote it sounds like I was :P).

Hmm, now I wonder, what kind of pressure develops in a band when there's more than one lyricist/songwriter? Because, the idea of many members of a band contributing a lot in the making of a song seems good, but does it become a "competence" at some point?

EDIT: Oh, competence has nothing to do with competencia. I meant "competition".

I'm so goin to get bashed for this...

I FUCKIN HATE THIS GROUP!!!!!!
It's terrible!
Maby its because of everyone around saying that it's so awesome that you just have to love it...
So far I was pleased by the results of the cooperation between the great musicans within such supergroups like ToTD or Audioslave... but MS is totally not my thing...
The most funny part is that I love the output of each of this group members alone but together... it simply doesnt work..

Layne is whining like a little girl... to me his scratchy voice doesn't fit so calm music...
the lyrics are terrible... like written by a 13year old female nirvana fan...
music is soulless... booring... like some kind of a shitty lullaby

Suprisingly I don't feel any true emotions here... they sound not natural, not honest...

but ofc it's just me;)

I was fine with everything you said up until this point, that's absolutely fucking ridiculous, opinion or not. Layne whining like a little girl? hahahahaha yeah sure sure. I personally think lyrics are pretty subjective but I think laynes lyrics give excellent insight into his mind at the time. To say the music is boring again is opinion but well just have to agree to disagree

Layne doesn't whine
The lyrics are (most probably) whatever went through his mind at the time, pretty much like the lyrics on Tripod.
It doesn't lack emotion, it's just a different wave.

It'll grow on you later. :P

I have a problem with avatars. They always seem to get old or something, and then I feel the urge to change them. But I'll try to keep this one!

I love both bands, they're kindof a part of my past relationships and they really coined them in a way..emotionally. But nowadays(only around 2 years later... ) I only listen to them sometimes when I'm in the mood for it. And, well, my mood at a time decides which band I listen to.. :D
Some of their songs also get me very emotional, not in a positive way though :(
