In the recent article I posted about him talking about how he was friends with those people, he did mention partying with Alice in Chains and then staying at his house for 4 days.

So apparently the reunion show was pretty cool, and turned into a Temple of the Dog reunion as well.

I've heard the album. I really don't see it. I'll play it again sometime.

You dont see what? It's potential greatness? it is an amazing record. It seems as if Layne took up godlike vocals for this; which is funny to say, because heroin fucked up his voice so bad. What makes it so good is he manipulated his voice, he used his weakened vocal range to his benefit and made a really fuckin good record. I think you need to listen to it with that mindset and maybe you'll see the greatness and effort that was put into it.
Fuck this American bullshit, I'm from Yorkshire, and it's Yorkshire day. Let's go eat some tatties and Yorkshire pudding.

I don't think his voice was fucked up at that point. It was just a totally different musical and atmospherical setting to which he had adjusted his voice. It's more akin to AiC's acoustic work or Mark Lanegan's solo stuff, so expecting "more classic Alice" might not be the proper mindset for this record. Do give it another spin with this in mind, maybe that can help.

Don't forget the work of Barrett Martin, Mike McCready, John Baker Saunders, and the one & only Mark Lanegan with the assist on the vocals.

It takes one hell of a group of musicians to make one great album.
