x-ray mind - most underrated song

Post by floozy » Wed Jul 14, 2010 1:59 pm

Why does nobody ever mention this song?? To me everything about it is perfect... just listen

Do the laughs die when
One such as I run
And allow myself
Time for own true needs
When convincing me
That you're on my team
May not lie to me
But not mentioning

So sit back and have
An hysterical
Laugh at tiny holes
Buy and trade men's souls

X-ray mind reads plenty
Worth no more than pennies

You, they, it or what
Have been fair, I thought
May you never free
You from you or me
See the more I think
I'm afraid to blink
I don't move an inch
Slowly draining me

Hire a spy and bug me
Pimp your friends for money
Rich and growing sicker
Sell the dead ones quicker

Me too. I like the lyrics to the song a lot, but musically it doesn't do anything for me. Just reading the lyrics I like it, and love the verses though.

I love this song, but my favorite of the album is Artificial Red. Artificial Red is incredibly underrated IMO.

Huh... turns out Artificial Red doesn't do anything for me, but it actually gets mentioned from time to time as one of someones favorite songs.

Love this song. One Layne's best outside of alice in chains. One of Mike McCready's best out side of Pearl jam.

This and Lifeless Dead are my fave Mad Season songs.
I come from a country of northern lights, lightless days and nightless nights.
I'm not gonna sit around and waste my precious divine energy trying to explain and be ashamed of things you think are wrong with me.

It's pretty jazzy/bluesy, so I guess you'd have to have an appreciation for jazz. I like it.

'X-Ray Mind'.....I really like Layne's vocal melody in this song.

'I Don't Know Anything' is pretty much the only "rock" song on the album.....if I'm not mistaken, Layne wrote the music. It reminds me of 'Angry Chair' - which he also wrote - because the main riff is so incredibly simple, yet so great.

The best song off of Mad Season's album is All Alone. That is the most underrated :)

My top 5 would be:
All Alone
I love how it's starts all inaudable & slowly you can make out "were all alone"

Wake Up

I'm Above
"How is it you're feeling so uneasy?
How is it that I feel fine?
Life reveals what is dealt through seasons
Circle comes around each time
I've been blessed with eyes to see this
Behind the unwhole truth you hide
Bite to remind the bitten, bigger
Mouth repaying tenfold wide"

Lifeless Dead
Long Gone Day

Totally. My other two favourites are I Don't Know Anything and Artificial Red. Something about Artificial Red is totally awesome, I love listening to it on repeat when I'm sitting in the balcony, chain smoking

arificial red was my initial favorite. jus an awesome song really. but i can honestly say that river of deceit and long gone day are two of the best written songs ever. river of deceit is one of my all time favorites. this whole album really is just so fantastic. one of those perfect albums that comes along only ever so often. its extremely overrated. i wish they wouldve done another album. even now i wish theyd still do one, with lanegan on vocals and maybe jeff ament on bass. then it can be a PJ/Screaming Trees project but still keep the original feel. ya know as like a tribute to layne and john
Easy come, easy go
