So I decided to grow my hair but actually I don't know how my haircut should be like. I've had long hair once but it was pretty horrible
HORRIBLE
You know, it looked like a bucket or helmet on my head...

So I don't want to have hair like that again and I want to find out what haircut should I do. You know, the main problem is that my father is our family's barber (He just have some experience. That's it) and he doesn't knows how to cut long hair. He doesn't let me go to the hairdresser and says "I'll cut your hair. Why do you want to pay money when I can do it for free?!". I hate that a lot! I've seen some photos of Kurt Cobain's hair and he had cut his hair around ears, but left lots of hair on top of his head.

So should I do the same? Just leave hair on the top of my head and cut it around my ears and neck? What about front? Should I make it the same lenght as my hair at back of my head or make it a little bit shorter?

Sorry for my English ;D

Well, when it comes to your hair it's pretty much whatever you want to do with it. I remember before I got my hair dreaded (you know, when it was shorter) I shaved the back and sides and let the front keep growing. Once the front was fairly long I let everywhere else get longer too, so eventually I could put it in a ponytail sooner.

It all kind of depends what you want and how you want to look, I say if you dig the Cobain look, go for it. Just remember it won't come out entirely the same.

i find it interesting that the word "grungy" has become a synonym for "Kurt Cobain"

Anyway, yeah it looks like you'd have to cut around the ears and stuff. I'd also reccomend a straightener so it doesn't look really weird.

I know I won't get hair like Cobain's cus my hair is curly. I just want hair that I could do cool headbanging (joking). My friend has the same hair type as mine and he looks pretty cool with long hair.

Hm.. the problem with that long hair you had, is that its not LONG ENOUGH :D I have quite long hair now, BUt it has to be longer. If you want cobain style just let it grow and grow, I recommend to brush your hair alot, and style it with the brush. Once the front covers your face :D you go to the hairdresser and cut the broken edges... Then you can let it grow a bit more... And Then is the moment for Cobain hair!! Then you dont need to brush it anymore, Just put the hair where ever you want with your hands And I would say you would have a grungie hair.

Mr. Staley have had some really great haircuts and I know it! He's really brilliant. My problem with hair earlier was that my front was pretty short and this time it won't happen again. I'll grow my hair until it covers my face. And I'll shave around my ears and neck a little bit so it won't look very bad.
