Footsteps or Times of Trouble
To anyone who's heard Times of Trouble (Temple of the Dog) and Footsteps (Pearl Jam). Both songs use the same guitar riff all the way through. My friend is a bigger PJ fan than me and I love TOTD more than him and I wanted to know what you guys think. Which one is the better song?
Eddie Vedder: Matt Cameron writes songs and we run to find step stools in order to reach his level. Did we mention he's the greatest drummer on the planet?

I find myself singing both songs all the time. I'm a massive fan of Vedders and Cornells vocals so I'd have to say I love them both equally, even though it's easier to sing Footsteps when I'm jamming with friends.

She motioned to me
That she wanted to leave ...
That she wanted to leave ...

Well...
We think the same about this one. I also prefer Times Of Trobule more than Footsteps. I mean both songs kick ass, but Times Of Trouble has a line that's very similar to my life moto
But if somebody left you out on a ledge
If somebody pushed you over the edge
If somebody loved you and left you for dead
You got to hold on to your time till you break
Through these times of trouble

Re: Times Of Trouble vs. Footsteps
I love both, but I like Footsteps better. Although its very signature "Vedder", its shows a very unique example of his voice. I hesitate to say this but its almost like hearing young Vedder and old Vedder at the same time. I'm always forgetting that this was one of the earlier Pearl Jam songs made and that it's weird that it seems to transcend through all of Pearl Jam's styles. Also, almost every note in that song is gut wrenchingly painful and I love it. Its probably in my top 5 Pearl Jam songs, so its probably why I like it over ToT.

I prefer Footsteps. I mean, Times of Trouble is a good song (one of the best on the TOFTD album) but Footsteps is my favorite in the "Mamasan" Trilogy of songs. The song features amazing guitar work from Stone, and Eddie sang his heart out.
