Recently got into Sonic Youth

Kim Gordon & Thurston Moore have been kicking it hard for over 20 years and they can still put on a mean show. Talk about these New York gods here!

Recently got into Sonic Youth

I always knew about them, but never really went out of my way to listen to them, but I did now, and Oh my god, one of the greatest bands I've ever heard. 20 minute version of the Diamond Sea kicks so much ass.

I was the same way. I never really listened to Sonic Youth until recently. They're pretty sweet. I don't know why I never was into them before.

I still haven't really heard them. It's weird. For me, it's like bands that have huge catalogs I don't look into them so much cause there's SO much (The exception being Melvins) I've heard songs here and there but nothing too much. I liked what I heard, but I've also heard that their sound changes around.

I just bought Goo which is the first SY record in my possession save the "100%" 7" I bought sometime in the nineties but never really listened to

I must say I like it. Dirty Boots is really really great, the rest of the album may take a few more spins before I really get into it. But definitely a band to discover, no matter what your musical taste might be like otherwise.

Ahh sawnic yoot. I've heard a bunch of their songs, but never listened to an album straight through or anything...They're really amazing though. Great music for drawing, or doing homework.
The Jeevies. It's a feeling you get.

Sister was the 2nd album I ever bought for myself...
So it's SUPAH SPESHUL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously though, I love the band, and always have. They're sometimes patchy, but there are precious few bands who aren't.
Nice to see Rather Ripped get some love.
And yes, The Diamond Sea's full album edit is a treat. A Thousand Leaves is a pretty loaded record...

I always loved them. By always I mean as soon as I heard them. Ok so I was watching Nirvana interviews a bit after I first heard about them, and I kept hearing them mention all these bands, they were GREAT about mentioning their influences, and if I ever get any influence at all in the mainstream or media, I'm going to pimp out my favorite bands as well, and I kept thinking that I should check those bands out if I like Nirvana because Nirvana likes them and maybe I'd like them as well (you know, bands like Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, Vaselines, Bikini Kill, Butthole Surfers, etc. all the bands I know of and love today because of them) so I hear them talk a lot about this bad Sonic Youth so I figured I'd start with them and check them out, so I look them up and hear Kool Thing, and think it sounds great, so that was my que that Sonic Youth is a great band and I should check them out further, and that Nirvana has great taste in music and I should look up all the other bands they mention.
