Phantom Radio. This album makes me happy. It's been hard listening to music lately, and this is the only one that doesn't make me anxious.

In the car I've been listening to nothing but classical music lately. I feel disgusted at news radio, there's nothing good on the rock station, I only like about a dozen rap songs and none of them would ever get played on the radio, talk radio has too many commercials, I'd rather drive an oncoming semi truck than listen to pop, and they won't play anything on the country station does doesn't sound like it's trying to be r&b. Besides, I want to make sure my daughter is exposed to as much classical music as I was.

At home I've been listening to Torah podcasts while I clean up the kitchen at night. My Pandora station plays too much Deftones and not enough Prong, but that's a nuanced thing their algorithm apparently can't handle, especially since I've thumbs-upped a handful of Deftones songs. I've got a bunch of music I made on my phone, but I've listened to it way too much already and it's just demo anyway. I guess really I'm just more in the mood for Torah podcasts than anything else.

reznor/ross, htda, nick cave, mission, pixies, portishead, joy division, kmfdm, skinny puppy, muse, aphex twin, duran duran, lost highway strck, depeche mode (new), nitzer ebb.

Of these i'm not that into NE & kmfdm.

Portishead: I used to listen to their first & dummy a lot back in 97, those are still pretty good albums

Me too! What composers you like? I've mostly been enjoying Wagner.

I think Bach's cello suite is probably the greatest piece of music ever written.

If you put a gun to my head and made me press a button that eliminated all but one piece of orchestral music from existence, the piece I'd spare is Borodin's Symphony No.2. Then I'd try and bargain away everything except the 3rd movement in exchange for also sparing Sibelius's tone poem "Night Ride and Sunrise"--performed by the Cleveland Orchestra with Vladimir Ashkenazi conducting.

Oh yeah, Barber's violin concerto is also pretty flawless.
