Not grunge but my favourite solo is the ending solo on Fade to black by Metallica.
How can i be lost?

The cymbals during the solo at 2:30, the one that sounds like a china, followed by the other mechanic sounding higher one - are what makes this solo so lovely to me.

Ty Tabor got some excellent solos in his portfolio. It's Love, Prisoner, Johnny... all through the King's X catalogue basically. Guy sure knows how to play the guitar.
