Re: Green River NOT first grunge band?

Ahhh, Overlord! Like me a bit of them! Not quite the proto-grunge pioneers...more like a Seattlite Cheap Trick...!

Said that, I reckon the one in the middle might have influenced King Buzzo...in hair style anyway...!

Re: Songs that ripoff Nirvana.

I love making these kinds of comparisons...Nirvana weren't entirely original themselves -- Spirit really took its opening from the closing chords of Pixies, Debaser... not Godzilla, Louie Louie or More than a Feeling -- Milk It's riffage is owed to the Melvins, It's Shoved -- Very Ape also borrowed ...

Re: Alice Cooper

What an artist...the man with the career in fear! For me he sits with the likes of Motorhead, ACDC, Kiss and Thin Lizzy for teachingme that the 70s were the golden era for music… and that most good music was older than I was. I post because Im addicted to this song, and wanted to share it...I'll Bit...

Re: No favorite songs thread yet?

To put a top ten together for Soundgarden is a challenge -- but here goes: 1 Drawing Flies 2 Slaves and Bulldozers 3 Fourth of July 4 Tighter and Tighter... sleep tight for me Chris  5 Outshined 6 Gun 7 Kick Stand 8 Hunted Down 9 Jesus Christ Pose 10 Room 1000 Years Wide Something like that lis...

Ha, its only more than a month after posting that Ive considered that those two are about as eclectic as you can get with Hole -- suppose I'm just a sucker for all sides of Hole

Re: Best Soundgarden Riff and Guitar Solo

Soundgarden were not really a "solos" band imo, so I am going to skip that -- suppose insanely complex solos just weren't a grunge thing...except for Pearl Jam Well, my favorite song is Drawing Flies and it is so because of the opening riff...so my answer can't be anything other than that -- Slaves ...

Re: Favorite Nirvana song

My favourite is "Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle" -- though it was a while after getting into the band before I gave it any consideration

The Clash!

Seems not to be any thread for The Clash here, so here's one where you can come and talk with Joey about the legendary Clash! My obsession with the Pistols gave me a yearning to discover what the other punk bands were up in the 1970s... and The Clash was one of the first bands I came across... and h...

Can anyone identify what shirt Mike is wearing?

Came across an image of the late Mike Starr wearing a Cure T-shirt, its too large to place in thread, so heres the link:https://i.pinimg.com/originals/95/5c/cc/955ccca8ff44e2c22db03fc4d75e695d.jpg Does anyone know which shirt this is? I like the Cure and that is a lot better than most Cure shirts I'...

Re: The Proclaimers

Music from the late 80s I associated with bland electronic dance music, twerps not writing their own material, and the sleaziest...corporatest...sexistest... hair metal bands... of ridicule, so coming across music like what these two lads did, then stuff like REM, B52s, Pixies, Husker as well, which ...

Oh, I should note that my... volatile buying habits led to me purchasing MSM's Diva.
