Re: Crime Rock

I was thinking that “crime rock” would be yet another subgenre - as in, every time somebody starts a new band nowadays, not that that happens a lot now outside Sweden, they come up with a new genre to go with them, like “naw, they are not raga-skiffle-metal, they’re more Merseybeat-funk-sludge”

Re: Next Concert your going to??

Argh! They cancelled Glastonbury over Coronie again, despite the fact that by when it happens in June, everybody vulnerable will have been vaccinated - “Idiocracy” arrived early, I guess

I am not attending Glastonbury, but this news makes me pessimistic about Hyde Park :(

Re: Buzzcocks

I enjoy their music, although at this time I do not have any records of theirs - they were probably the best band at being poppy while still keeping it pure punk, and played it much more convincingly than some I could mention

I was thinking about that long-forgotten bit from the BBC a few days ago. What I do wonder is whether the bloke is still alive…

Re: This is why I despise Europe!

When a band is named in relation to a place, it rarely sounds good, unfortunately, in particular when said place is somewhere so broad like a continent - Asia were not that brilliant either - Bands named for continents are still a heck of a lot better than many songs named for them - “Africa” by Tot...

Re: Cave In, Tool, A Perfect Circle, QOTSA, Radiohead, Neil Youn

Cave In - I do not know them Tool - they have written some work that I appreciate, but I have yet to hear a complete album of theirs A Perfect Circle - they are not a band to which I pay much attention Queens of the Stone Age - as far as I am aware quite good, although I never have listened to them ...

Re: Lyrics in Life...

I get that a great deal.

With eyes so dilated I've become your pupil (Drain You, Nirvana)

Maybe I'll find on the way down the line that I'm free (Deep Purple, Black Night)

Swallowed, sorrowed, heavy 'bout everything but my love (Bush, Swallowed)

Re: Two words...Bob Dylan

I saw him live in 2019 in London with Neil Young - tragically, I just felt he could not compete :| -- Bob Dylan was one I though who'se 80s work went tragically overlooked and underrated. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2tIj4Jd_R0 He makes brilliant uses of the sounds of the time here - merging it w...

Re: Green Day

One of my "middle-of-the-road" bands. - What I mean by that is, they've produced some fine work (no, it does not mean that if they were in the middle of the road, I would carry on driving!) - "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" is a good'un for sure, I personally own Dookie but that ori...

Re: What kind of TV shows are you watching?

This new game show with ITV , Lingo. I've seen the US version when I've been stateside, and apparently we had it back in the 80s, this new version is an alteration of those two. - There's a few new game-shows out lately, Winning Combination was one I liked, plus a number of old one's coming back, wh...

Re: Elton John

He’s alright. “Saturday Night’s alright for Fighting” and “Crocodile Rock” are pure classics, I’ve known them for years, beyond that however his stuff doesn’t really need to be heard day in, day out... - I appreciate the impact he had on Jerry Cantrell for definite, and found it good of him to retur...
