Re: Soundgarden News Thread

They'll get in eventually. The real crime is the heavy metal bands like Judas Priest. And just because their not your thing, it doesn't mean Depeche Mode, Biggie, and Whitney Houston weren't an influence in their time and it's actually quite ignorant to say that. Now don't get me wrong, Im not sayi...

Re: Soundgarden News Thread

Soundgarden (Motorhead, Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest, MC5, Pat Benatar, others too) were snubbed for the now-meaningless “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” I mean really... Benatar and Dave Matthews topped the fan vote, with Soundgarden also coming very high... all of these were rebuffed entry. Especially in ...

Blind Melon

I actually discovered them years before I wore flannel in fealty to grunge.
Aged 11, I was persuaded into buying the self titled album of theirs after hearing that it “sounded like Zeppelin”, but its outstanding in its own right.

Re: The NewYork Dolls

I love them. I’m not going to write a book like I usually do, but my valuing must be known... I have upmost veneration for their style, managing to be true spearheaders with punk powerviolence, yet furiously retro and rock-n-rolll “Personality Crisis” is my song of choice by them. Not only is it a r...

Re: Help my 70s music education, please :D

This thread would have been perfect for me.
Although I was about 14 when this thread was last in use... I had already long since cut my teeth on 70s rock...

RIP Neil Peart
Love is a strong word, but did like Rush a lot at times. I adore "Freewill"
A very mournful day for rock.

Re: What are you currently listening to?

I swear some of the best songs I have ever heard were theme songs for wrestlers. Im inclined to agree. As a youth I always loved the theme Shawn Michaels came out to... — Related: 1990s wrestlers are noted for having themes that ripped off popular grunge numbers. Raven of Wcw had a theme that was a...

If you are starting with this decade, I might as well do the same -- 1990: Mother Love Bone, " Come bite the Apple " 1991: Soundgarden, " Slaves and Bulldozers " 1992: Alice in Chains, " Rain when I Die " 1993: Nirvana, " Frances Farmer will have her Revenge on Seattle " 1994: Manic Street Preachers...

Re: What are you currently listening to?

I actually listened to a glammetal band I would never listen to voluntarily after a friend she told Me a certain song would relieve some grief and vexation, it did. World turned upside down and inside out, suppose all music has a place somewhere — More recently, Blackfoot “Train Train” http://www.yo...

Easyish. Once I remarked that I “listen to Green Day to sound British”.
