Re: River of Deceit

May I suggest reading a memorium written by the drummer of Mad Season, Barrett Martin, from Layne's memorial service. It's touching: http://www.layne-staley.com/?page_id=753 The part about Layne's guest list brought a tear to my eye. It's interesting Layne felt he was compelled to embark on a spirti...

Re: x-ray mind - most underrated song

I love this song, but my favorite of the album is Artificial Red. Artificial Red is incredibly underrated IMO. It's pretty jazzy/bluesy, so I guess you'd have to have an appreciation for jazz. I like it. 'X-Ray Mind'.....I really like Layne's vocal melody in this song. 'I Don't Know Anything' is pr...

Re: Best Ever Nirvana Song?

I can't pick just one best song........but I do think that the entire 'In Utero' period of the band was when they were at their very best - with 'In Utero' being their best album. They also did the amazing Unplugged show during this time. They had some fantastic other songs that they recorded during...

Re: Layne was

actually pretty good looking He was. Actually all the guys in the band were pretty good looking dudes back in the day. Layne in particular had a very strong sense of appeal about him though. I believe it's in the book Grunge is Dead where Mike Inez talks about Layne's sense of appeal. He says Layne...

Re: Where do y'all shop?

Believe it or not, one of my favorite brands for clothes is Craftsman - the company that makes tools. It's sold at Sears......check it out. They got some cool stuff at really good prices - especially when they got a sale going on. Particularly if you need a jacket, they got heavy duty stuff meant fo...

They don't call him the King of Pop for nothing. More than that, he's the best dancer I've ever seen. I'm staying away from all those other issues - it's not my place to judge......but he owned the entertainment industry in the 80's.

Not for me to judge. All I know is he was a special performer.

Check out Cobain's shirt:

Re: Nirvana rehearsed "Smells Like Teen Spirit" last December

why is nirvana so popular all of a sudden O_o When did they ever go out of style? It's a testament to Kurt Cobain......not only was he a gifted song writer and musician, but there was just something very alluring and captivating about his whole being - whether it be his good looks, his trend-settin...

Ya I saw they're playing the Graham Civic Center in SF......I don't know, cheapest I can find is $100 bucks a pop. Was contemplating - I'd be going solo.

Re: WASTING LIGHT LEAKED!

First of all.......White Limo is one of the best songs to come out in LONG time. And I certainly enjoy the video that accompanies it - always enjoyed Grohl's sense of humor. Bar none, the best song on the album. Sometimes the Foo feel a bit on the corporate mainstream side......but compared to what ...

Re: you can hear Kurt's voice again

he said that he has always wanted to continue Kurt's music. And his improvisations that are put up on his vkontakte page (russian facebook-like social site) give even more chills. I mean - there are many guys who try to sound like Kurt - but he just has this voice. He's not pretending or copying......

Re: Top 10 movie series

I would definitely exclude the 4th Indiana jones. Beverly Hills cop is good, eventhough the 3rd one was poor. I'm sure I'll get blasted for this........but Indy 4 was very entertaining. Is it as good as its predecessors? I don't know, probably not? But it entertained me and it felt like Indiana Jon...

Re: NICKELBACK!!!

If Cantrell ever opened for Nickelback, it must've been around 2002 for the release of 'Degradation Trip'. Cantrell's name by itself certainly didn't have the same pull as the name Alice in Chains. 'Degradation Trip' was one of the most CRIMINALLY underrated albums of the 2000's (Volumes 1 & 2 to be...
